The first major event on the Platinum Jubilee calendar, hosted by the BBC’s Sophie Raworth and attended by the Queen’s cousin Prince Michael of Kent.

Mezzo-Soprano Laura Wright and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra with works by Edward Elgar, Benjamin Britten and William Walton reflecting 70 years of the Queen’s reign.

The evening, supporting Armed Forces Charity SSAFA, began with the national anthem followed by the national anthem of Ukraine, a poignant tribute a month after the war started.

Setting the news agenda, this concert made headlines around the world as the first high profile event in the Platinum Jubilee year.

A sold out Royal Albert Hall meant a significant audience learning about the work of SSAFA and a collection for the charity was made as guests left the venue.
